Medicare can be a bit tricky to navigate, and Quality Health Plans, Inc. (QHP) wants to make sure that you understand the basics.

Medicare Part A helps cover your inpatient care in hospitals, including critical access hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities. It also helps cover hospice care and some home health care. Most likely you won’t have to pay a premium for Part A, because you or your spouse paid Medicare taxes while you were working.

For a definitive look at Medicare please click on the link below.  It is a document published each year by the federal government and explains the more confusing aspects of Medicare, including the "lock-in" period.

Medicare Part B covers many medical services not covered by Part A, such as Doctors' services and other outpatient care.  Part B is optional and comes with a deductible ($135) and a monthly premium ($96.40).  Many people with Medicare (Part A and Part B) choose a Medicare Advantage Plan. Private companies, such as QHP, contract with the Medicare program to offer such plans.

When making healthcare coverage choices, keep in mind the basics:

  • Medicare pays for most health care services and supplies, but it doesn't pay for all health care costs.

  • Remember, you must have Medicare Part A and Part B to join a Medicare Advantage Plan.

The U.S. Federal Government provides Medicare to all who are eligible, but Medicare does not cover everything. That’s where QHP comes in. We want you to make an informed decision when choosing a Medicare Advantage Plan, and we believe that the right Medicare Advantage Plan choice is QHP.

Medicare Part D is the new prescription drug coverage for which all Medicare recipients are eligible.  Part D coverage is offered by private insurance companies in one of two ways.  First, are the stand-alone prescription drug plans which are combined with either original Medicare or another health plan.  All these plans charge an extra premium.  Second, are the Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plans which often do not charge any premium beyond the basic Part B premium.  Generally, these latter plans are the best value, offering comprehensive healthcare and drug coverage for $0 plan premium.
